If you were to list our 100 favorite things ever, both glitter and Sky Ferreira would rank pretty high. So when you combine them into one awesome makeup look... yeah, you could say we're over-the-moon obsessed.

The look in question is Ferreira's violet-hued glitter eyeshadow that she wore on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last week and posted on her Instagram. After fan-girling out about her epic makeup and the return of glitter eyeshadow in general (Psst: If Emma Watson's wearing hair jewels and Ferreira is incorporating glitter into her makeup routine, we think it's really safe to say that '90s and '00s beauty trends are back for good), we did some internet sleuthing to track down her makeup artist for tips on how to get the look.

That led us to mega makeup artist Amy Chance (who also posts Ferreira's beauty trick on her own Instagram), who gave us the low down on how to get glittery.

What products did you use to create the look?

Can you give a step-by-step for how you applied the glitter eyes?
I wanted the makeup to be really impactful from stage, so I actually mixed two glitter products for more intensity. The Make Up Forever product is a loose glitter, so I mixed it with the Urban Decay Heavy Metal eyeliner, which is a wet product, so it would stay put around the eyes. Since the Urban Decay liner already has glitter in it, the combination made for a more intense look.  I made sure to apply it under the eyes as well for added drama. Then I defined her eye with a black eye pencil (Chanel Eye Kohl in Noir). Then for extra definition, I loaded her lashes with lots and lots of Lancome Hypnose mascara. When we did this look for the Tonight Show, I added individual lashes to the outer corners of her eyes for a little extra flare.

Any pro tips that everyone should know about eye glitter?
Glitter can get a little messy. I use the sticky side of scotch tape to clean up the little pieces of glitter that fall on to the face.

What was the inspiration for the look?
We were inspired by Debbie Harry and David Bowie.

How long have you worked with Sky?
The first time I worked with Sky, I think she was 15 or 16, but our first big shoot was actually for the July 2010 issue of NYLON!
