Without the hype and hubbub of fall or spring fashion weeks, pre-fall fashion week goes pretty under the radar. But that doesn't mean you should forget it completely--pre-fall is actually one of the best seasons of the year. Instead of dramatic runway shows with outfits so extreme that the models can barely walk in them, pre-fall avoids the over-the-topness of the two major seasons (not that we don't love some high fashion) and showcases innovative designs that are 100-percent wearable and 100-percent worth saving up to buy. Just look at the 100 slides in our gallery, and try to tell me that you don't want every look. I dare you.
The season on the whole had a couple of stand out trends that are worth incorporating into your wardrobe now. Check them out below and then so a little shopping for your dream life in the gallery of images. Hey, Santa, do you work in the summertime too?
MICRO PRINTS
Seen at Opening Ceremony, Proenza Schouler, Erdem, and more a tiny print is a reserved way to go bold come fall. And of course, nothing looks better with a tiny polka dot or a liberty floral than another--also teensy--print.
MENSWEAR
Michael Kors knocked it out of the park with his nouveau take on traditional menswear dressing, while Alexander Wang went for a more conceptual, outdoorsy route. If you're looking for classic, you need look no further than Band of Outsiders collection full of mix and match suiting or Versace's super chic (and super sexy, duh) three piece suit.
FUZZY OUTERWEAR
Fact: There is no better feeling on earth than cozying up in a giant fluffy coat, and pre-fall '14 was full of 'em. Calvin Klein's pastel pink version is literally dream worthy, while Versace, 10 Crosby, Burberry and more also showed fancy and fuzzy options.
BLACK & WHITE
Black and white was all over the pre-fall collections like a zebra. From bold colorblocking at Theory, to dots and stripes at Alice + Olivia, to draped wonders at Prabal Gurung, to sporty motifs at DKNY, and super-sleek basics at J Brand, there is literally a B/W look for everyone.
FRINGE
Chanel's cowgirls obviously take the fringed and fabulous cake, but subtle variations on the theme could also be found at 10 Crosby Derek Lam and Alexander Wang. Dolly Parton wishes she had these looks. (And so do I.)
JEWEL TONES
Shimmering gemstone hues ruled at Burberry, Erdem, and more. If the black and white trend has you down, these pretty-as-a-present jewel tones will pick you right back up again.
