The News: Alexa Chung Launches a Denim Line
Move over, Katniss...there's another girl on fire, and she's burning up the runway hardcore with her tomboy style and flame-red hair. Meet Natalie Westling, the Arizona teenager who not only captured our attention at Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs last season, but she also personally inspired me to ditch my dark brunette for red locks. Oh, and she's a killer skateboarder (more on that later). These days she's front and center in the new Giles resort lookbook, chilling out in embellished 3-D floral dresses and sequined flamingo prints. Need.
The Face: Dr. Jart+ BB Radiance Beauty Balm
The beauty market is flooded with (supposedly) miracle BB creams, but there's few companies who do it quite as well as Dr. Jart +. I'm already addicted to the Water Fuse Beauty Balm, but this new version evens out your skin tone while simultaneously giving that whole "lit from within" thing we all want. Think of it as the best Instagram filter, except this time it's IRL.
The Inspiration: Model Skateboarders
Whoever came up with the idea that top models are prissy, girly, or extremely high-maintenance clearly has never met this crop of skater girls-slash-catwalkers. Besides our current girl crush Natalie Westling (who schooled everyone on skate etiquette here), fellow models Cara Delevingne, Abby Brothers, Betty Adewole, Heather Christensen, and Jessica Hart all know how to tear it up. Guys, want to teach us?
The Song: "Octahate"- Ryn Weaver
When you have Ellie Goulding, Charli XCX, and Jessie Ware's stamp of approval, you know you're onto something great. That's exactly what happened with Ryn Weaver, who dropped her debut single earlier this week in a flurry of accolades. (And it's for good reason.) Besides the fact that she's got the whole breezy summertime vibe down pat, we hear the track was produced by Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos and Charli XCX herself. Get ready for this girl to EXPLODE....and while you're waiting, treat your ears to "Octahate" below.
