The News: David Fincher Directs Gap's Fall Commercials
We already gave you the heads up about Gap's "Dress Normal" campaign, and now there's more major news from the retailer. It's recruited the acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher--of The Social Network, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, and Fight Club, to name a few--to direct the fall video campaigns. Inspired by the "Dress Normal" concept, the commercials are two-minute snippets of daily life featuring (beautiful) people in a hurry. Watch all four clips below.
The Look: Ali MacGraw
Ali MacGraw in Love Story is probably one of the most obvious fall fashion inspirations there is, and for good reason: her cozy tan coat, her statement red dress, and her trademark stick-straight hair and full brows just scream "Americana." But instead of taking cues from her onscreen alter-ego this season, I want to channel MacGraw in real life circa 1969. The actress' flippy skirts, her knee-high boots, and her embellished jackets just somehow feel right.
The Face: Elie Saab Fall 2014
Now that the temperatures will be dropping before we know it, this makes September the perfect time to test-drive fall beauty. My new favorite effect is the navy-rimmed eyes from Elie Saab fall '14. Less harsh than black but still just as dramatic, the unexpected result is not only seasonally appropriate, it's just plain gorgeous.
The Inspiration: Daria Werbowy's New Equipment Campaign Video
Daria Werbowy goes sans makeup, rocks multiple hairstyles, and plays air guitar using a pitchfork in the new video accompaniment to her fall Equipment campaign. Futher confirmation that she's the coolest...and I'm going to spend all September long asking myself the all-important question: "WWDD?" (What Would Daria Do?)
The Song: "King of the Fall" by The Weeknd
If you're still recovering from your long holiday weekend, the latest drop from The Weeknd (heh) should do the trick. Press play. Shut eyes. Chill out. Repeat.
