When we think of ‘80s throwbacks, it usually evokes visions of bad hair, acid wash everything, and some amazingly cheesy music we used to listen to “ironically” so often that it isn’t ironic anymore. Junior Prom’s new video “Cheap Thrills” is far from it; consider it the refreshingly simple, visually stirring ‘80s music vid your parents would have never been able to dream up. With a trippy, technicolor point-of-view and a denim-clad muse pirouetting around the city, the band’s visuals is just as fantastic as the song itself, whose chorus-like vocals and dance-worthy beats give some modernity to a song that could certainly be from another era. And it's exactly what we've come to expect from the Brooklyn duo (Erik Ratensperger, formerly of The Virgins, and Mark Solomich). Since teaming up in 2012, they've released a self-titled EP—featuring the backup vocals of Solomich's 60-year-old landlord on "Sheila Put The Knife Down—and are currently in the process of putting their debut LP together.

Watch below for Junior Prom’s brand new video for “Cheap Thrills.” For all those ‘80s obsessives out there, we stress that there is no perm required.
