A limitless bank account, a total lack of guilt, and expensive clothing—now THAT’S the stuff that dreams are made of. There is something incredibly magical about such carefree shopping sprees. Call us crazy, but some of our favorite scenes in cinema are shopping montages. Haven’t we all dreamed of being Cher in Clueless or having our own personal Richard Gere to take us shopping?
Although these scenes may not be quite as good as living out your actual spending fantasies, they'll at least give you a fix without the damage. So, take a seat, listen to the soothing sounds of credit cards swiping, and live vicariously through these big spenders:
1. The Sweetest Thing (2002)
Vintage shopping and fancy dress galore! The ladies fully embrace the dressing room experience, channelling their inner Madonnas and Sandys.
2. Clueless (1995)
What's the best thing to do when you're sad? Shop. Duh. Shopping queen Cher indulges in some serious retail therapy to fix some heart break. There's nothing a little Louis can't fix.
3. Pretty Woman (1990)
Imagine a world where you can spend as much money as you like on whatever you like, *sigh*.
4. The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
Seriously, who wouldn't want unlimited access to the Vogue closet?
5. Confessions of a Shopaholic (2005)
The name pretty much says it all. There are plenty of shopping trips to choose from in this film, though one of our personal faves is the sample sale scene (yes, they really can be that violent).
6. National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985)
We're mildly disappointed that none of our family vacations have ever included all-day shopping sprees in Italy. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
7. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
Women aren't the only ones who have a penchant for spending. Case and point? Ryan Gosling's lady-killer persona.
8. Valley Girl (1983)
You only need to get 3 minutes into this film before your greeted with some glorious, over-the-top, 80s mall shopping. Think: pastel headbands, bowling shoes, and bubblegum-pink sweaters.
9. Legally Blonde (2001)
Elle Woods shows what a savvy fashionista she is in this shopping scene. She is absolutely not going to be fooled by a lying sales clerk. Atta, girl!
10. That Touch of Mink (1962)
A private fashion show at Bergdorf Goodman where you can pick whatever items you want? Count us in!
Warning: We can not be held responsible for any excessive spending that occurs after watching these films.
