Florrie might have perfect, smooth blonde hair, big blue eyes, a booming voice, and a penchant for creating insanely catchy, danceable music, but she's a lot more than your typical run-of-the-mill bubblegum pop star (the self-taught Brit knows her way around a drum kit). Over the past few years, the British singer-songwriter has become a fixture on the fashion scene, performing for Prada and Miu Miu. So it should come as no surprise that the 26-year-old is H&M Loves Music's latest artist. "Last September, they were looking for a new artist to front their campaign," Florrie told us. "They found me and liked what I was doing and my music, so asked if I would be up for collaborating." In addition to premiering her latest '90s-inspired music video for "Too Young To Remember," the Swedish retailer is making Florrie the face of their new music-centered campaign, debuting January 22nd.
We caught up with the singer and talked style, beauty, and, of course, music.
When we last spoke with you, back in August, you were putting the final touches on your new album. What can you tell us about it?
I'd like to put another single out after "Too Young To Remember," followed by the album, so it won’t be out until the summer. But I'm SO happy with it and very proud of all the hard work and love that’s gone into it. I'm still thinking of a name for it—I think when I've found one, it'll really feel like it’s complete. I can’t wait for you to hear it!
What other artists are you listening to at the moment?
I'm listening to a lot of Taylor Swift albums. I just love her! Someone introduced me to Purity Ring the other day too, so I've been getting into their stuff. I'm actually writing in L.A. at the minute, so haven't had much time to listen to anything other than the stuff I'm working on!!! That sounds really bad, but when I'm writing I go into my own little world.
What are your top five style tips?
- Style is whatever you make it, it's individual to you.
- A good pair of leather trousers will last you a life time.
- Never use Compede blister plasters as nipple covers (from experience!!!!!).
- Hair drying jeans makes them shrink a little and feel like they've just been washed.
- Miranda Kerr is always good inspiration.
Do you have any beauty tips and tricks?
Hmmm, well, my must-have product in my make up bag is By Terry Touche Velouttee, it’s a highlighter stick, but will cover anything without making it look like you've covered it. What else?...Always put your moisturizer on when your skin is still damp, I swear that made a big difference to my skin. And when you wake up in the morning, dip your face in freezing cold water in the sink for 60 seconds (breathing in between!)—IT’S AMAZING.
Is there anything else you want to share with us?
Well, first of all, I'd like to say thanks for all your support and I hope everyone is loving the TYTR video! Also I would like to say (mainly because I'm eating them right now) that American cheese puffs are the best thing EVER. That’s all :)
