OLFACTORY GIRL
WHAT IS IT: Olivina Wild Cherry Almond Tin Candle
WHY I LOVE IT: Sweet cherry and almond may seem like the biggest scent juxtaposition, but like most things, opposites attract. Olivina just rolled out a super kawaii Wild Cherry Almond collection with pink plaid and floral patterns bedecked on the products, my favorite being this amazing tin candle. Besides being super adorable, the smell first burns fruity but then the subtle aroma of sandalwood starts booming for a mixture of all things yummy.
FOR THOSE: Who wish they were bicycling through the country.
FLAMING LIPS
WHAT IS IT: Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in Rule34
WHY I LOVE IT: One of my favorite people in the office to share new beauty finds with is none other than NYLON's very own Fashion Editor-at-Large, Dani Stahl. So I know when Dani comes rushing over to my desk to tell me all about her "newest obsession," it's something great. Her latest? Urban Decay's line of Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipglosses that feature 9 modern nude shades for every skin tone. Obviously, I'm the last person who would wear a nude lipgloss, but I realized if I was going to find the one for me, it would be in this collection. And let's just say I found it, and it was love at first swipe. The non-sticky formula gives a punch of hydration and pigmentation, while the shade in "Rule34" leans toward a brownish shade, perfect for my pale skin (other peachy hues totally wash me out).
FOR THOSE: Who are never-nudes.
EYES WIDE SHUT
WHAT IS IT: Burt's Bees Brightening Eye Treatment
WHY I LOVE IT: It's that time again: New York Fashion Week. Basically, this means that I run around from morning to night every day, going backstage and relentlessly reporting back all the beauty breakdowns to you guys. And listen, I'm not complaining--it's one of my favorite times of the year--but the one thing I'm always lacking is sleep. So naturally, I have to fake it till I make it. 9pm show? Sure, I'm not tired--at least, I won't look tired, thanks to Burt's Bees Brightening Eye Treatment. Infused with Daisy extract collected from the mountains of Macedonia (fancy!), the blossoms act as a natural skin brightening agent that reduces the appearance of dark spots, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles.
FOR THOSE: Whose favorite movie is Daisies.
CLAWS OUT
WHAT IS IT: Sara M Lyons Aliens & UFOS All-Over Nail Prints
WHY I LOVE IT: If you guys don't know who Sara M Lyons is, please do yourself a favor and check out her Etsy shop now. (I mean, anybody who describes themselves as a "professional weirdo" has to be amazing, right?) In her shop you'll find genius nail decals with pizzas, cats, and pentagrams (basically: all of my favorite things. They're also decked out with Teen Witch stickers, faux tattoo flash, and the best thing I have ever seen in my life: a Lindsay Lohan zine aptly titled "Linds-zine." I've recently been on a huge X-Files kick (thank you Netflix for providing all seasons on instant watch), so naturally I gravitated towards the aliens & UFOS nail wraps. Scully would totally rock these.
FOR THOSE: Who want to believe.
BODY ELECTRIC
WHY I LOVE IT: Not to be totally gross, but I love deodorant. (Doesn't everyone?!) Sometimes finding the right one is #thestruggle though--not too irritating, doesn't stain, actually works, etc. Thankfully, Secret just rolled out a trio of delicious new scents named after some of the world's most beautiful (and presumably best-smelling) places on Earth: Paris, Hawaii, and Brazil. It's hard to pick a favorite from the collection, but with so many choices, you can travel to faraway places every day sans jet-lag and smelly pits.
FOR THOSE: Who are go-getters.
FACE TIME
WHY I LOVE IT: M.A.C Cosmetics, how I love you. The powerhouse brand just rolled out a brand new Prep + Prime CC Colour Correct Collection featuring creams and powders in four different shades (Adjust, Neutralize, Illuminate, Recharge) for all your skincare woes. Picking a favorite from the line was hard, but I landed on "Illuminate," a lavender loose powder that does just that: illuminates. Finally, my dreary winter skin looks alive!
FOR THOSE: Who want to shine.
HAIR METAL
WHAT IS IT: RUSK Being Sexy Glitter Hairspray
WHY I LOVE IT: You heard it hear first: Glitter hairspray is back. I've been pretty on board with the overload of '90ss comebacks, but this one in particular really hit home for me. I can't even tell you how many bottles of glitter hairspray I ingested as a little girl--in fact, there was a brief period where I refused to leave the house without it on. (Naturally, my mom hated it because the glitter got on everything and I undoubtably looked insane, but whatever.) If you read last week's Vanity Case, you would know I just recently dyed my hair pink again, so when a bottle of RUSK Being Sexy Glitter Hairspray landed on my desk, I knew it was destiny. I've been combining the silver and gold sprays together so it actually looks I have a little galaxy in my hair--and although I may look crazy, it's the best #tbt I can think of.
FOR THOSE: Who used to have a collection of glittery butterfly clips.
