'rocky horror picture show' is being made into a tv movie

Another day, another remake. Today, Fox announced that they will be revamping Rocky Horror Picture Show into a made-for-TV movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, the studio intends to use the script from the 1973 pre-film adaptation play by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien. Throughout the years, Rocky Horror has amassed a devoted following and has become a cult classic. As Roger Ebert noted, "When the film was first released in 1975 it was ignored by pretty much everyone, including the future fanatics who would eventually count the hundreds of times they'd seen it. Rocky Horror opened, closed, and would have been forgotten had it not been for the inspiration of a low-level 20th Century-Fox executive who talked his superiors into testing it as a midnight cult movie."

The remake will be headed up by High School Musical and Xanadu's Kenny Ortega, who will direct, executive produce, and choreograph. At this stage, no cast has been announced. The original film starred Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry, and Barry Bostwick. There's always a big risk when remaking beloved films, especially ones like Rocky Horror, that are so burned into the collective consciousness. Earlier this week, it was announced that She's All That was being remade, and after we wrote about it, the original movie's star Freddie Prinze Jr. tweeted at us, "Decision makers want built-in audience only. Nothing a writer can do."

He has a point. Whether or not the remake is any good, audiences will tune in simply because they recognize the name. It's the reason Hollywood has gone remake-crazy.

video premiere: alicja bacjelda's "i will never love a young boy again"

Directed by newcomer Julius Onah, The Girl is in Trouble centers around a Lower East Side bartender who becomes entangled in a murder mystery involving a desperate woman, a missing drug dealer, and the head of a powerful investment firm. The thriller—which was theatrically released on April 3—stars Columbus Short, Alicja Bachleda, Jesse Spencer and Wilmer Valderrama, and boasts Spike Lee as its Executive Producer. The film is not only visually stunning, but includes some truly arresting performances.

As the troubled Signe, Alicja Bachleda astounds. The Polish actress—who retired from a singing career to pursue acting when she moved to the United States with Colin Farrell—is equally haunting in the film’s original song and acommpanying music video, “I Will Never Love A Young Boy Again.”

Beginning on a striking, noir stage, the video follows the actress as she recounts the memories of relationships past: rooftop conversations, taxi rides, afternoon strolls, and bodega visits that have since passed her by. With lines like "All these hours of letting him go / These hours of letting go" denoting the darkness of nostalgia, the forlornly folky track might just be the soundtrack to your next break up, or an accompaniment to April showers. Though we are certainly pleased with Bachleda's decision to pursue acting, we might have to ask her to come out of retirement as a singer. (Please?!)

how to win coachella

All too often, Coachella fashion can be summed up with flower crowns and lace tops. Well, not anymore. Instead of scouring Tumblr for your festival inspo, let’s look to the stars—literally.

We’ve pulled together outfits inspired by three of our favorite acts playing the Indio valley this year to help bring a bit of uniqueness back to the sea of heart-shaped glasses and fringe. Oh, and two pieces of beauty advice: Stock up on face powder and lip gloss. The threat of a sand storm will stand no chance if you’ve got this lil’ guy by Rimmel London and Rimmel London's Stay Glossy lip gloss in your satchel.

When it comes to festival footwear, the name of the game is comfort. Sure, there will be folks who play the whole suffer-for-fashion card at events like Coachella, but they will be the ones you’ll see sitting pretty, away from the action because they’re feet hurt. Bummer. You do not want to be one of those people. But you also don’t want to sacrifice style. That’s where Nine West comes in. From walkable wedges to soft leather flats, it’s got the comfortably fashionable festival footwear on lock. See for yourself ahead.

'it follows' is the sex-horror indie film worth the hype

The trope, nowadays, is to call any indie horror film a "clever twist on the genre" or "one of the most refreshing scary movies around" when it has something that resembles a bit of grit and intelligence. Because, even though it is 2015, horror is still critically derided and counted as something exploitative or pure mass culture. But, of course, any aficionado or fan who has devoured Romero, Carpenter, or Argento understands, the psyche of the horror film is rife for exploration. That is what makes It Follows such a gem—one that doesn't overreach by aiming to answer big, existential questions, but still colors our concept of adolescence.

The concept of It Follows is relatively straightforward: An "It" (is it a monster? A spirit? An STD? The film doesn't bother asking and is all the better for it) becomes attached to some helpless horndog after sex and follows them, relentlessly. It shows up as anyone—a friend, a stranger—and it won't leave until you are dead...and nothing will stop it. The idea of something following you, slowly but unstoppably, has a great horror history (Michael Meyers, for instance), and it's something that has been eschewed recently for trippy effects and eerie, J-Horror little girls. A particularly terrifying scene involves a simply executed full-frontal on a rooftop—an original addition to scary movies.

The hapless sex-haver is Jay, played by Maika Monroe, a beautiful but relatively unremarkable teen who finds herself terrified and stalked by the "It". However, what makes the film seem authentic is that her friends refuse to leave her side and even are convinced that she is subjected to the uncanny—even though they can't see it themselves. (Real talk: There is no one a teen trusts more than another teen.) And suddenly, even the mundane becomes menacing: School cafeterias, bedrooms, a harrowing scene in a well-lit bathroom. "If this happened to me in real life," Monroe jokes, "I would get on a plane and fly to Australia. I would get on a plane and fly to think about what I would really do. Someone told me they would work on a cruise ship, which makes sense."

Because the curse seems to be sexually transferred, It Follows opens itself up to a ton of interpretation, from STD scares to a metaphor for adulthood—once you start having sexual urges, maturity is coming for you, whether you want it to or not—but doesn't nail a particular one down. "It's so hard to pick the one thing it is about," Monroe says. " There are so many amazing interpretations." That, dear readers, is what makes a good horror film.

eddie redmayne eyes 'harry potter' spin-off

Eddie Redmayne: welcome to the A-list. After winning an Oscar in February, the 33-year-old Brit's career has officialy gone nuclear. According to Variety, Redmayne is the front-runner to star as Newt Scamander, the "magiczoologist" at the center of Warner Bros.' hugely anticipated Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Based on the eponymous Hogwarts textbook, Fantastic Beasts will follow the adventures of Scamander and a secret society of witches and wizards in turn-of-the-century New York. And for Potter fanatics hoping that Harry and his squad might factor into the script somehow, don't hold your breath. The film is "neither a prequel nor a sequel” to the Potter stories says J.K. Rowling, who's signed on to adapt her 2001 book for the screen.

Early Speculation had Potter alum Alfonso Cuaron directing the first installment of the planned trilogy, but the director has since squashed the idea. Nicholas Hoult was also rumored to be vying for the lead, but with Redmayne now attached, Hoult should probably start looking for another day job. After all, Redmayne now has the best agent in the biz, and his name is Oscar.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to arrive Nov. 18, 2016.

justin timberlake + jessica biel welcome a baby boy

Blue Ivy and North West might want to make a little more room in their luxury sandbox, as pop music's latest progeny was welcomed into the world today. His name is Silas Randall, and he is the first child of newly-minted innovator Justin Timberlake and his wife Jessica Biel.

The couples' representatives confirmed the child's birth to People, but remained mum on additional details like: does Silas look like Mommy or Daddy? Which of Justin's former bandmates will be named his godfather? Is he excited for tomorrow's Game of Thrones premiere? Team Brad or Team Jen?

What we do know: The boy was named after Timberlake's late grandfather Bill Bomar, whose middle name was Silas, while Randall is Justin's own middle name which is so precious it hurts. Now if you'll excuse us, we'll be in the corner crying a river (of joy).

Move over Furious 7. Push aside you pesky Avengers. The hottest franchise in the land belongs to The Bellas. We're still a whole month away from full blown Pitch Perfect 2 hysteria, but that hasn't stopped Universal from greenlighting a third movie. And why wouldn't they? The original sent shockwaves through Hollywood when it grossed over $100 million, and turned Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson into straight-up movie stars.

On Friday, Wilson confirmed that she's already signed on for a third installment, which means the rest of the gang can't be far behind. Let's cross our fingers for a 'Bitch Better Have My Money' cover starting NOW!

party monster: midnight garden party @ coachella

At Coachella, the party starts after the sun sets, and that was especially the case for our Midnight Garden Party, hosted by Sky Ferreira at a private estate in Bermuda Dunes. It's not easy going hard after a day in the desert sun, but thanks to beats by The Misshapes, Chelsea Leyland, DJ Rick Rude, and our girls Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe of The Dolls, staying awake wasn’t that hard of a task.

Plus, we had Glam Squad makeup and hair artists on site to keep our festival braid and makeup looks on lock. (Shoutout to NYX Cosmetics and RUSK Haircare for providing the goods!) STK satisfied our cravings for mini burgers, shrimp skewers, and ceviche, while platinum palomas made with Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages and DeLeón Tequila quenched our thirsts. Special thanks to Perrier for keepin’ the garden party hydrated, too. When all was said and done, guests brought home giftbags filled with DimePiece LA’s Baddie Winkle collaboration, NYX makeup, slim cans of Perrier, Creative Recreation gift cards, and some Lyft credits for their next ride.

Take one look at the above photo and it becomes quite evident: Khaleesi. Is. Pissed.

On the eve of Game of Thrones' hugely anticipated season five premiere, four of the upcoming ten episodes have leaked online. The timing is particularly painful for HBO, who just rolled out their brand new streaming service and used the show's return as the key selling point.

Suddenly the Internet has become a minefield loaded with potential GoT spoilers lurking around every corner — especially after it was revealed that season five will stray from the books more than any season before it. The one thing HBO has working for it: More than any other show, Game of Thrones has become appointment television. It has the air of a weekly event that begs to be experienced not in one dizzying chunk, but slowly, drawn out, and with the rest of your Twitter feed.

After all, this isn't BloodlineGame of Thrones season 5 premieres tonight on HBO.

hillary clinton is officially running for president

Hillary Clinton is about to make history. The former Secretary of State officially announced her second presidential bid Sunday, making her the runaway favorite to land the Democratic nomination when the race gets underway next year. Assuming she does win, Clinton will become the first woman ever to capture a major party’s nomination.

The announcement comes on the heels of last night's laugh-out-loud SNL sketch, which saw Kate McKinnon as Clinton pretty much spelling out next year's election for us. "Citizens! You will elect me! I will be your leader!" she said before welcoming Darrell Hammond, who reprised his legendary Bill Clinton impersonation. And with Clinton's campaign set to be one of the most expensive ever — with over $2.5 billion expected to be raised — McKinnon and Hammond should have more than enough material to last them well into 2016.

Update: Watch the first official video from Hillary Clinton's campaign below.

scarlett johansson's movie awards outfit is confusing

Scarlett Johansson is an angel from the heavens who manages to both be beautiful beyond words and also powerful, stylish, and wildly intelligent. If she showed up at our house at three in the morning and told us to come with her if we wanted to live, we would go with her, no questions asked. And honestly, she could wear a potato sack made out of hair from a drain, and look wonderful. Which is why we are raising a single, slightly confused eyebrow at her MTV Movie Awards pantsuit. It isn't that we don't like pantsuitsWe love pantsuits. But this Pepto Bismol hued tone, along with her super-short hair, is weirdly—dare we say it—in the vein of Kris Jenner? Los Angeles businesswoman on her way to a power lunch? Like, it's okay for a fancy dinner, but this is the MTV Movie Awards? It's time to let your freak flag fly, right?

Amy Schumer brought the raunch Sunday, when she hosted the MTV Movie Awards. But the night's most riotous moment happened mid-show, when Schumer and some friends (including Amber Rose) visited the local cineplex for some — ahem — alone time. And while we don't want spoil the funny, what we will say is this: It's encouraging to finally see a sex-positive take on masturbation from a female point of view, and demonstrate how normal it is for women to get horny. Call it: The Amy Schumer Effect.

Watch the clip below.

7 looks that stole the mtv movie awards

Amy Schumer may have made masturbation the theme of the night, but legs were having a moment on the carpet. (We’ll leave you to figure out the whatever connection there may be) From Cara D. to Rebel Wilson, the night’s look was by and far all about the gam.

Not all reveals are the same, and the MTV Movie Awards ran the gamut from subtle to, well, an MTV award show (i.e. delightfully over-the-top). The jumpers and mini-skirts that walked the carpet were enough lookbook inspo for our spring time wardrobes. Wilson’s cape brought a new edge while Schumer’s skirt-suit kept it cute and slightly political (we see you, HRC). And, as always, Cara Delevingne smoldered in lace. Ahead, the coolest seven looks made to inspire whatever closet spring cleaning you may still have to do. And it is official; leg season is here.

Last night, MTV used their Movie Awards as an opportunity to premiere the trailer for their latest TV gamble, an adapation of the generation-defining horror franchise, Scream. The trailer starts out with Bella Thorne in the Drew Barrymore role—a pretty girl home alone who gets an ominous iPhone message, setting in motion the show's events. When one of the characters warns, "You can't do a slasher movie as a TV series," we're immediately reminded of the original franchise's trademark self-awareness.

One thing that's noticeably absent from the trailer is Scream's iconc Ghostface mask. Will Sidney Prescott and the Woodsboro murders play a role in this series, or are the characters inhabiting a bloody new universe? Find out when Scream the TV series premiers on June 30.

game of thrones's new power couples, ranked

Oh, dear Goddess, what a frightful state I am in. Having been a long (and I do mean a long) time reader of Game Of Thrones, I have been sitting smugly through red weddings and beheadings; through dragons on the run and white walkers walking. But now, I am scared. I am lost, and afraid, and suddenly just as confused as the rest of the world. And it is invigorating.

This season is about journeys: the journey to battle, the journey to Essos, the journey to retake the north. Everyone has a destination, and with the land of GoT larger than it has ever been, characters are finding some pretty strange bedfellows. So instead of a traditional recap, we are going to do a ranking of power couples—those duos who are now traversing the realm in pairs.

Every week, we are going to rank each pair to see who will win—and what crazy lengths they'll go to—for the game of thrones.
